Postpartum Weight Loss- Tips to Boost Your Metabolism

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I used to be thin no matter what I ate. After I turned 30 and had two kids I started exercising and eating healthier to lose the pregnancy weight. Now at 39 I’m the heaviest I’ve been. What can I do to up my metabolism?”

From Fit by Sara: “As we age our metabolism changes. You may have been able to eat whatever you wanted when you were younger and you could stay thin. Take into acount that most kids have a lot of energy and run around….plus they have very active metabolisms. Here are a few tips to boost your metabolism:
*Interval Train- incorporate hills, kickboxing or 1 minute sprints into your workouts to burn more calories and boost your metabolism.
*Drink Water and ONLY Water- Ditch diet drinks, coffee and alcohol all of which dehydrate the body. When your body is dehydrated you will be more likely to think you’re hungry when your actually thirsty. Plus other drinks have sugar and excess calories.
*Eat more often. Always have healthy snacks with you and never allow your body to get super hungry. If you eat when you’re hungry you’ll keep your metabolism going strong plus you’ll be less likely to crave quick pick me up sugary or salty snacks full of excess calories and fat.” –Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
