Postpartum Weight Loss- Can’t Stop Eating Sweets Once You Start?

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I’ve been consistently exercising for about 6 months and have lost 10 lbs., but I have a horrible sweet tooth, and once I start eating something sweet I crave more and more.  What suggestions do you have to kick this unhealthy habit so I can lose even more weight?”

From Sara of Fit by Sara: “If you’re craving sweets it could be your body telling you that you’re low on blood sugar.  Opt for a healthy “fruit sugar” snack, and combine it with a protien so you’ll keep your energy up and prevent your blood sugar from dropping even more.  For example, combine a piece of low-skim motzerella cheese with a slice of apple, or a banana with peanut butter.  Also, when you chose to eat “simple sugar” sweets such as cookies, candy, or chocolate, set a portion on your plate.  After you’ve eaten it, have a glass of water then brush your teeth.  I’ll gaurentee you that sweet craving will leave after you brush!”
