Quick Toning Exercises: Exercise to Tone Thighs and Buttocks

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “What exercise would you recommend to tone the thighs and buttocks?”

The lunge in a simple exercise you can do anywhere and it tones multiple muscles including the thighs and buttocks. To do the move, take a big step forward with your right foot. Place your hands on your hips and with your hips facing forward. As you lower your left knee towards the floor keep your back straight and your head lifted. Bend your right knee so your foward leg is parallel with the floor. Make sure your knee is in line with your heel bone (not over the toe). Press back to stand. Repeat the lunge on the right leg 10-15 times then switch legs. Work up to 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
