Postpartum Weight Loss: Exercise to Tone Arms without Weights

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I really dislike the back of my arms. They are big and flabby, but I don’t like to lift weights. Do you have a simple exercise I can do at home to tone my arms without weights?”

A simple exercise you can do in your home to firm up your arms is a simple exercise I call “wall pushups”. Pushups tone your whole upper body including your triceps (back of arms), shoulders, and chest. The wall push up is a modified move when repeated can give great toning results.

Begin by standing about a foot from the wall. Place your hands about shoulder width apart chest level. Inhale and bend your elbows and lower your chest towards the wall, exhale press your arms nearly straight. Repeat for 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps. As you get stronger you can add 10-15 pulses in between a slow set. So it would like: 10-15 slow, 10-15 pulse, 10-15 slow. Just remember in order to get maximum muscle definition body fat has to be lost through a combo of eating healthy, cardio, and toning exercises. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
