Pregnancy- Tip #2- Pregnancy Massage

Pregnant women often experience muscle pain in the buttocks and low back because your body is trying to compensate for the increasing weight of your growing belly.  I highly recommend pregnancy massage.  In my experience as a massage therapist, I found that my clients felt a reduction in muscle pain and swelling of the ankles, and felt comforted and totally relaxed after a massage.   The key is to find a massage therapist that you feel comfortable with.  Ask her how long she has been doing massage, and how she would position you on the table.  Also be sure to ask if she uses pillows.  A good massage therapist should position you on your side and prop a pillow underneath your belly, underneath your arm, and a large pillow in between your legs.  Be aware that you may be more sensitive to certain scents in your pregnancy, so ask what kind of oil the therapist plans to use.  A safe aroma therapy oil for pregnancy is lavander.  Pure essential lavendar oil is great scent for evoking relaxation.  Be sure to communicate with your therapist if you are at all uncomfortable.  You deserve to be pampered….ENJOY! 🙂
