You Can Be Fit & Eat Chocolate


One time after I gave a speech on how celebrities get back in shape after having a baby, a man came up to me while I was enjoying a chocolate stawberry and said, “Hey, you better watch out, if you keep eating those you won’t be able to do that speech again.” I answered, “Everything in moderation.” People assume that because I’m a yoga instructor and fitness fanatic that I won’t eat anything that’s considered unhealthy. It took me a long time to find the balance between eating healthy, nourishing my body, and eating treats in moderation. For example, I learned that depriving myself of chocolate made me focus on physical imperfections. When I changed my focus from depriving to nourishing my body with healthy foods AND allowing myself a treat if I wanted it, by body responded by having less “treat” cravings. So if I feel like having chocolate I’ll have it, and when I’m eating it I’m really enjoying it! So you can be fit and eat chocolate. A life of fitness means having balance…and if balance means having an occasional treat, by all means I say do so! -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
