Postpartum Weight Loss- Jogging or Kickboxing to Lose Fat?

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “What do you think is more effective to lose body fat, jogging or kickboxing?”

From Fit by Sara: “That’s a tough question to answer because there are several factors to consider such as fitness level, body fat percentage, duration and intensity of exercise. That’s said, let’s assume you are doing a kickboxing class at a moderate intensity for 45 min. (cardio portion) or a jog for 45 min. at a moderate pace on a flat surface then I would say you would get about the same result. However, you would burn even more body fat if you temporarily boost your heart rate with both with high intensity intervals.  For example, you could vary your jog with 2 min. intervals of sprinting or intensify or your kickboxing with 2 min. of plyometrics (or jumping movements such as squat jumping jacks).” –Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
