Postpartum Weight Loss: Frustrated with Weight Loss

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I have been exercising regularly and eating healthy but I take medication that puts on weight. I’ve lost some inches but noticed I haven’t had much progress in a few weeks. I’m getting frustrated with my lack of weight loss. Any suggestions?”

From Fit by Sara: “Because you are taking a certain type of medication that can increase weight gain, make sure that you are keeping your body hydrated so you don’t mistake thirst for hunger.  I recommend drinking a minimum of eight to ten eight ounce glasses of water per day.

The thing to remember is you want your weight loss to be permanent…and permanent changes take time but the results last! Have you tried a different exercise routine? I recommend implementing intervals that boost your heart rate such as a slight jogging for a minute followed by a 5 min. powerwalk and repeat for 30-40min..  Or you can implement stairs for the higher intensity interval.  Sometimes all you need is a change of routine to lose a few more pounds. Keep eating healthy and exercising consistently- besides weight loss, a healthy lifestyle will boost your mood, and it’s good for your heart too!” -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
