How to Use Nature to Meditate

Meditating can be challenging especially after a busy day. I’ve found a great way to clear your mind before you meditate is to connect with nature. Go for a walk and really notice your surroundings. Be present with nature- notice plants, animals, the sound, the scent. After you have cleared your mind with a nature walk, find a quiet and peaceful space indoors or out. Just as you tuned in to nature, tune into the space you are in. Take in the scent, the sound and movements. Then turn your attention internally. Notice the sound of your heart, hear your breath, notice your belly and chest moving rhythmically with each breath.  You will soon notice your mind quiets and you feel calm. Stay with this space for as long as you need. Namaste ~ Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
